STEM Education Lead

The STEM Education Lead supports Lifeline’s after school program, Club Crown Heights at La Casita. The Lead develops curriculum and activities for monthly STEM Days at La Casita (1st Friday of the month).  La Casita is set up as an early intervention program for at-risk youth and provide services for (on average) 30 children ages 6 to 12 on a daily basis. The site allows for a safe space for children to go to when released from school.

Specific Activities
  • Work with La Casita staff to identify lab topics and activities
  • Design STEM labs appropriate to elementary-school-age children
  • Lead volunteer group on monthly STEM Days
  • Create lab training documentation with a focus on re-usability and long-term sustainability
  • Be a resource for the staff, other program volunteers, and student
  • Inspire, encourage, and empower the youth to relate STEM topics to their world
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Proven knowledge of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics) subjects
  • Experience with planning or leading curriculum, lessons, or group activities
  • Paid or volunteer experience with youth ages 6 - 12

Work Schedule
Minimum commitment of six months or a semester (for students) is required
